- [Narrator] For enterprises starting out on this journey, it's good to see where cloud native fits in with other technologies and paradigms over time. Let's take a quick look over the last 20 years of tech to get a baseline of where we are today at Next Steps. I look at this from three perspectives: infrastructure, DevOps, and application development, and look at the progress. Let's take infra first. When I started in industry in the early 2000s, most large companies built and managed their data centers on premise. The next step in the evolution was the arrival of Amazon Web Services which started the move to cloud movement. We've gone through a couple of phases of this. First, with the introduction of additional vendors such as Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud, et cetera. All vendors typically have a robust infrastructure or a ServiceStack.
