- [Instructor] Let's go back to our first image and take a look at noise. Noise is unwanted detail in the image. And the reason why we adjust it after sharpening is sometimes sharpening can bring out the noise. Press Command or Control + Plus to zoom in, and you can look at the image. In this case, let's take noise reduction all the way down. This particular photo was shot on a smart phone. As such, it's more likely to have some noise in it. If I increase this too far, you see it took the noise out, but it really makes the image start to look more like a painting with a lack of detail. So the key is somewhere in the middle, finding a good balance. Color noise reduction can also remove unwanted color noise that shows as variation in color or speckling. If we twirl both of these down, you'll see they also provide detail and contrast. Adjusting these sliders can be useful. If you hold down the Option or the Alt key, you…
