- [Instructor] The Light section is generally tackled after white balance. That's because adjusting exposure affects color. If you lighten or darken an image, the saturation can change. Looking at this, we're going to stick with the basic tools here first. I'll click to close the Curves section, but we'll talk about that in a moment. Effectively, the image is broken down into different areas. Exposure is the overall exposure of the image, meaning how bright or dark the photo is overall. If you've ever heard a photo is overexposed or underexposed, this is what the file might have looked like. This is underexposure and this is overexposed. But as you see with a raw file we have tremendous capacity to recover this information. It's difficult, although not impossible, to over or underexpose a raw file.
