- Many of the emotions that we feel with grief are universal. Things like sadness, anger, anxiety. Many people feel these emotions and yet, how we actually cope with those emotions is unique to us. Some people may want to dive right back into work and just keep focused on the work that they know how to do. It's a way of even keeping a normal, if you will. Other people just may not be able to do that and will need more time to be able to focus inward and support their familiar, for example. So, the way that we actually cope with the grief can be unique. Just like as a manager, you manage different employees in different ways according to what they need. The same is true with grieving employees. Navigating how they cope with grief is unique to them. So it may take a little extra thought and a little extra inquiry on your part to understand how each employee is going to show up in their grief, and I would be remiss to not…
