Addressing grief in team meetings
- When collective grief is occurring in your community or at your company, it is really important to acknowledge it. And a good place to do that can be your team meeting. Now, it's going to feel like an elephant in the room, if you don't say something. So, as the manager, it is your responsibility to be the one who brings it up. You may say to yourself, "Well, no one's talking about it. "No one's asking me about it." That's most likely because they're looking to you, as the manager, to take the lead. So, it can be really important to come to the conversation with some ideas of what you want to say. For example, "Hey, I know that this is going on. "I know we have this situation happening here. "I honor that it is a really difficult time. "Let's talk about it. "What questions do you have? "What would you like to share? "Let's connect on what we're feeling."
