Classic comic book superheroes are notorious for their awesome powers of transformation. So in honor of Comic-Con 2014, and armed with my not-so-secret weapons Photoshop and Illustrator—I set out to transform this ordinary dumbbell dude on the left into the fabulously fabricated superhero on the right.
Like any great metamorphosis, creating him takes some sweat, concentration, custom font design, and dedication. But with Photoshop and Illustrator in your arsenal, you’ll soon have a hero at-the-ready for any vector-enhanced, pixel-based, summertime outdoor-dining crisis.
Meanwhile, if you’d like to see this process at superhuman speed, I have this time-lapsed saga to share—thanks to the awesome superpowers of the lynda.com production team. In under three and a half minutes you can see how our subject goes from his humble gym-dwelling origins to realizing his destiny as a powerhouse of propane.
It even features a thrilling song called “Massive” by Poppy Brothers. Fire it up!
