In this video, see how to join a Zoom meeting as a guest. The experience can be tricky if you don't have a Zoom account, so it's important to know the steps involved to ensure you can join meetings promptly.
- You don't need a Zoom account to simply join a Zoom meeting that somebody else is hosting. Maybe you're collaborating with people at an organization who use Zoom and they need to include you in a video meeting. Or maybe you do have a Zoom account and you need to invite someone outside your organization to join a meeting. Whatever the case, anyone can join a Zoom meeting as long as they have the meeting ID number. Just direct them to go to Zoom.us and here click join a meeting. This is where they'll enter the meeting ID you share with them. Now, I have this meeting invite that I received from Nick a little bit earlier. And again, we see the link here that we can click to join a meeting. But all you really need is the meeting ID, which are the last numbers here in the address. And if I copy that, and come back here and paste that into this field, and click join, it's going to popup the Zoom desktop app, and if the person signing up in the meeting doesn't have that app installed, they'll be prompted to do so. Otherwise, they'll either be led into the meeting, if the host has already arrived, or they'll have to wait like we see here, until the host starts the meeting. I'm just going to close and leave this meeting for now. Now you can also join a meeting as a guest, directly from the desktop app. Again, as long as you have the meeting ID. So, come back and open up the app. Here, I'll click join a meeting. And I'll paste that meeting ID again. Now, if necessary, you can enter or change your name here. This is how your name will appear to others in a meeting. We also have the option at the bottom to remember that name in the future so you don't have to type it in each time you join a meeting. If you don't want your audio or video to be enabled as soon as you enter the meeting, you can check these other two options that we see here. I'll leave those checked for now so you can see how that works. And I'll click to join the meeting. Now, again, I have to wait for Nick to start the meeting, because he's the host and I'm a participant. All right, so you can see, now Nick has appeared in the meeting. Now, he can't hear or see me right now, because we chose to disable the audio and the video. So, I can come down here and I can click join audio to join with my computer audio. And now Nick you can hear me, correct? - I can hear you. - Okay, and if I want Nick to also see me, I can click start video, and there we are. How's it going Nick? - Going pretty well. - Thanks for helping me out again. - No problem. - That's pretty much all I wanted to show here, which was how to join a Zoom meeting as a guest. So, thanks again, Nick. We'll disconnect now and I will see you again soon. - See ya later. - All right, I'll click leave meeting. And leave meeting again, and now we've exited the meeting. So, it's a really great feature that you don't need an account to join a Zoom meeting. It eliminates hurdles when you need to meet with people who don't have an account, and you don't want to make them set one up. You can just send them an invite, and they'll click the link. And if they don't have the Zoom app installed, they'll be walked through the process, and they'll be able to jump right into the meeting.
