Maximizing polygonal detail

While 3D printing allows for much higher polygon counts than a lot of other 3D applications like games or animation, there still can be limits. For example, Shapeways has a limit of one million polygons, per printed model. Now this may seem like a lot, but when a model has a lot of fine detail to reproduce, you can hit this limit quickly. Additionally, higher polygon counts can make it difficult for a slower computer to load those models. In this video, I'll show you some ways of squeezing every last bit of detail out of the model, while still keeping the polygon count relatively low. So far with this model we've created an inner wall so that the object has thickness but it's still hollow. Lets take a look at it, look around here on the bottom side and just show you how we've got this inner wall here. And I'm going to Alt + Click, on the jacket, so we make it the selected sub tool and I'm going to hit Shift + f, so we can see it's wire frame. Now you can see all the same detail that's…
