In this ZBrush tutorial, you will learn how create a polypaint texture from a texture created outside of ZBrush. Your instructor will show you how to extract out the cover of your pirate’s journal, bring it into Maya where you will lay out the UVs, and export the UVs so that you can complete the process of creating a texture you can bring into Photoshop for hand painting.
- [Voiceover] In this lesson,…I'd like to take you through the process…of extracting out the book cover,…bringing that into Maya,…where we'll lay out the UVs quickly,…and that will help us to bake out our texture map…so that we can hand-paint textures…outside of ZBrush…and then bring them into ZBrush…and actually turn the texture map into a polypaint.…So let me show you how we do that.…The first thing I'll do is with the book cover selected,…I'll reduce my divisions down to the lowest setting.…
I'll then export that out.…In this case, it's called book polypaint.…And I'll save that object out.…Then I'll switch over to Maya.…And I'll import in the book polypaint obj.…So this is currently the book asset…that we have in ZBrush…and if I open up the UV channel,…you'll notice that we have to reset the UVs.…
The first thing that I like to do…when first starting my UVs…is I will apply an automatic map.…So I'll go under my polygon setting,…and I'll go to automatic mapping…and what that does is automatically break out…the book into nice, clean planer maps.…
