Reach dashboard

- [Instructor] You know when you've got an itch you can't reach? Well your reach analytics can scratch that itch by showing you exactly how you're reaching your viewers. Okay, cheesy I know, but before we grab our analytic back scratchers, I want to show you a quick overview of the reach analytics dashboard. To get to your reach dashboard, make sure you have your analytics tab selected, and then select the reach tab at the top. Like usual, in the top right, you can see a date range. Below that is a graph with various tabs along the top, such as impressions, impressions click through rate, views, and unique viewers. Under the first three, you can see a percentage, comparing your analytics with the previous date range timeframe. So for example, my impressions click through rate has gone down 2% compared to the previous timeframe. If you mouse over the chart, you can see data for each specific day. Below the chart, you have the option to see more to get more detailed information. But we'll skip that for now. To the right below is your impressions and how they led to watch time section. An impression is any time YouTube displays the thumbnail for your video. At the top of the impressions funnel is how many total impressions your channel had for the date range selected. If you mouse over the I icon, you can get even more detailed information about where these impressions originated. Here YouTube shows you the percentage of your impressions from YouTube recommending your content, watch pages, homepages, and viewers seeking your content directly. Next in the funnel is your impressions click through rate. A click through rate is the percentage of times viewers clicked on your thumbnail to watch your video. Below that is the views generated from impressions, your average view duration from these impressions, and finally watch time from impressions. To the left of this section is the traffic source type section, and from here, YouTube gives you an at-a-glance view of each of your traffic sources for the date range selected. At the top, you can see a graph representing all traffic sources, while below it you get a breakdown for each and what percentage of your traffic each make up. You can also click the see more button at the bottom of this section to get more details, but we'll skip that for now. Below this section are four more sections, breaking down traffic source types in depth. First is the external traffic source section, which quickly shows you your top external traffic sources. To the right of this section is the playlist traffic source section, which shows you the top playlists that are directing traffic to your videos. Below this is the YouTube search traffic source section, which is a handy tool for showing you your top YouTube search terms that drive traffic to your channel. And finally, to the left of this section is the suggested video traffic source section that shows you which videos are driving traffic to your videos via the suggested videos section to the right of the videos watched page. So now that you know your way around the reach dashboard, you're ready to drill down into more detailed reach analytics. Now, get out there and reach for those analytic stars, or itches, I think I've got my metaphors crossed.
