All you need to set up a Yammer account is an email address that is work address. It can't be a Gmail address or a live.com or Hotmail. It needs to be some kind of a company address. So we're going to go to Yammer and we're going to enter a work email address. Now, when you sign up it says it sent us an email. So we'll need to go get that email to complete registration and setup our account. So we'll do that next. I'm going to switch to my email account.
Refresh my email. And here's my email to activate our Yammer account. It says, you recently signed up for Yammer, click this button or copy and paste this. So we're just going to click the button, and welcome to this new network that did not exist until just now. So you fill in your name, your address, you provide a password. It must contain at least six characters. Make sure that you know what that password is. Get prompted by Windows to store that, and it says who do you work with? So what we're going to do is add some of our colleagues here, Atrue Academy.
So I'm going to note that I work with Sandra Woodrem. And notice that I can't use email addresses that are outside of rouxacademy.com here. And I also work with Michael Knox and I work with George Farrizano. And some other people too but that looks good. Click next. I can join some relevant groups. All company exists because I created the account. I can start a group for information services as well. Or for technology I'll go ahead and start enjoying that group.
Click next, choose a profile picture from your computer. Should be a profile, but today I'm going to be a koala bear. It's uploading picture to Yammer. Your could also skip this, but it's good to just do it on your way through. Here's my Yammer account. I'm prompted to download Yammer notifier, which we'll talk about in a little bit. You don't have to do this now, but you can. And we're all set. I have a new Yammer account, and there's nobody else here yet, but I can invite other people inside my organization.
This is a free account, it's called Yammer Basic, and it has lots of the parts and pieces that we're going to see in Yammer Enterprise. To invite more people, I would click Invite right here. And add new people and then click invite them. I can click invite and send an invitation to these three people, to George, and to Michael, and to Sandra, just by clicking the invite button. They'll get an email that offers them the ability to log in. And, to be able to join Yammer, so that we can start having conversations right here together.
So, this is how you set up a Yammer network, from scratch, for your organization. Now, obviously, if you're not in a position of authority to do this, you shouldn't. But, assuming that you have a group of folks who are authorized by your businesses leadership, or you are one of the leaders. And you want to give Yammer a try, you can use this basic free Yammer account, setting it up just as easily as I just showed you. Notice that you can make this page your home page, you can just say sure and from that point forward every time you log into this browser, Internet Explorer, you will go directly to your Yammer page.
Creating a Yammer account, and creating a Yammer network for your organization could not be any simpler.
