- Now, sometimes in a piece of writing, repetition can be good. It can be used for poetic effect, repeating certain phrases, or for emphasis to keep emphasizing the point, but here we're looking for unnecessary repetition of points. To make sure that every point that we're making in this piece of writing is actually unique. After all, what's the point in saying the same thing over and over for no good reason? Doing this is going to take your edit to a higher level of refinement than we've got it so far, and here's where we can clear up a lot of the mess that actually is in the piece. It's a really important step. First, I want you to go through the article as it stands and remove any points that you feel are unnecessarily repeated and you'll see that after this step, a lot of the sort of unwieldy nature of the piece will go away.
