- Okay so, when I talk about the importance of having drama or bringing drama to your writing, a lot of people for some reason get spooked out by this, they associate the idea of drama with sensationalism and lies, you know. And this is something you gotta get over alright, it's very important that writing, most types of writing, bring as much drama to it as possible because that's where its power lies. That's not talking about sensationalizing or exaggerating it's about bringing out the legitimate drama within a situation. And not underplaying it, alright, because you're kind of doing a diservice to your readers by underplaying or burying the drama that's inherent in a situation. So your job as a writer is to bring it up front and center. Now, the keys to doing this is focusing on things like the action and on the emotion of the situation. So it's not going to work with every type of writing obviously but you can decide whether it is appropriate to the kind of thing you're writing…
