- Okay, so now that we've read the entire piece, we hopefully have a good grip on it, on the subject matter. And the first thing to ask about it when editing, is what is its fundamental purpose? Now, there are two parts to this question. First, what is the content actually trying to do? Is it aimed for instance at informing, persuading, entertaining, inspiring? And second, who is this content aimed at? Try to define both of those things in the form of a concrete sentence in this kind of form. This article is focused on doing X-X-X for X-X-X, who are the readers. First, you have a go at defining the intent and the audience in that form. Pause this and do that, and then we'll compare it with my version. Okay, here's my attempt.
