- [Instructor] The next big section we come across in a book contract is the section dealing with subsidiary rights defined as rights which are acquired by publishers for subsequent resale. The most common of these rights include translation rights, which is the right to sell your book to publishers in other countries who will then translate it. Dramatic rights or the right to turn your book into a movie, TV show, play, or other dramatic adaptation, as well as a few other less common subsidiary rights, which are not discussed here but which you should inquire about to your agent if you want to learn more. I'm going to talk about translation rights and dramatic rights as these are the two that I think you'll encounter the most in your publishing career.
