(light music) - [Instructor] We all have distractions in our home, whether that's dogs, kids, spouses, ringing phones, doorbells, televisions, whatever. But you know the fastest way I've found to block out these distractions? Closing my door. I know, not rocket science. Whenever it's time for me write, I put a Harry Potter Ravenclaw banner up outside my office door and then I close the door. The banner is a signal, it's an agreement with everyone else that lives in my house. When the sign is up, Jessica is not to be disturbed unless it's an emergency. And you know what, people actually listen. They abide by this rule. My husband has a similar signal. He turns on a light just outside his office door. These are our do not disturb signs. Just like the ones you put outside your door at a hotel. There's no reason why your office or the room where you work can't be your own personal hotel room for an hour or two a day.
