- What do I mean by clutter in a sentence? Basically, by clutter, I mean here unnecessary information that can take away from the sharpness of a sentence. Information that, while perhaps necessary or important to what you're writing, could be moved further down into the writing. Simply, to clear up space for the main idea. See, amateurish writers often pack sentences with as much information as they can without thinking about the extent to which it might obscure their main point. They'll include days of the week, percentages, and other such distractions that, while possible important and worth keeping in the text, don't necessarily need to be said all at once. I want you to acquire the power to decide exactly how you want a sentence to look. And how to shift information in and out of sentences without feeling scared or daunted by the process.
