In this lecture, we'll do a quick recap about high concept ideas to refresh your memory and then we'll talk about how to apply everything you've learned to your own shiny new ideas. So first, let's do a quick refresher on the four ingredients that make up every high concept idea. The first ingredient is the fish out of water element, which is defined as a character who is put at odds with his or her environment or the plot itself. The second ingredient is the looming conflict, which is defined as a major or primary conflict that the reader or audience instantly recognizes and that won't be resolved until the end of the story. The third ingredient is a hook, which is defined as the bait that lures people into the story usually in the form of a aspirational, fearful or escapism element.
