- [Jessica] Before you move on let's quickly sum up the four parts of my query letter format. Part one, hook their attention with an intriguing opening. Part two, tell them about your book with just enough detail to hold their attention but always leave them wanting more. Also, when possible, include comparable titles to help them better understand your book at a glance. Part three, tell them why they are the perfect agent for this book something we'll get into in the next section. And part four, tell them about you and how they can get their hands on this amazing manuscript. This outline is of course just a guideline. You don't have to stick to it exactly. Feel free to make it your own. And like I said before, there are hundreds of different ways to write a good query letter. This is by no means the only way that works.
