- Now, whenever you come across writing that seem unfocused, it's usually because the author isn't entirely clear about their intent, the reason why they're engaging in this particular piece of writing, they mix up intentions and, you know, if you do this it will show in the unfocused style of your writing. An elite writer, an exceptional writer remains conscious of the reasons why they're writing and what they're writing, even if the intention changes during the actual process. The moment you sit down to write, you have at least an unconscious intent, and it's very useful to make this unconscious intent as conscious as possible before even writing. Having this clarity of intent gives your writing focus and direction, helping to ensure that it doesn't get lost or ever become too rambling.
