Have integrity
- In some ways, blog posts are like opinion pieces that you'd see published by news organizations. Posts can reflect the views of a single person, kind of like a column or a TV news commentator, or they can represent a large organization as a whole, the way a newspaper editorial does. And like those, a blog post often makes an argument from a particular point of view, with the goal of convincing the reader to do something, believe something, or feel something. But there are also some real differences between the two mediums. For one, respected news organizations adhere to a strict set of journalistic principles, like truth and accuracy, fairness and independence. They don't do it in order to be holier than thou. They do it so that readers continue to trust them. It's sort of a promise to their audience that they'll behave with integrity at all turns. Now, blogs are a little more Wild West, right?
