Finding the right agent is the most important part of selling a novel, which is why you'll find that the majority of this course is spent talking about agents, how to get one and how to make sure it's the right one. I often like to compare agents to romantic relationships. Shopping around your manuscript for representation is like dating. Signing with an agent is like agreeing to be exclusive. And if you ever are in the position where you choose to part ways with your agent, as I have done in my career, it's very similar to breaking up with someone. And like romantic relationships, there are good ones and there are bad ones. There are right matches, and there are wrong matches.
