- Another way to bring more elegance to your writing is to make sure sentences and paragraphs transition really well. Sentences can occasionally get a bit divorced from each other. You know, like this one: They say that exercise is essential for your well-being. It's a waste of time. I have friends who spend every day in the gym, and they seem just as miserable as people who don't work out. Strictly speaking, there's nothing wrong with those three sentences sitting side by side. There really isn't. Each one independently makes sense. But you might detect a slight dissidence between the first two sentences. What I might call a lack of stability. It's very, very subtle. As if something is missing that ought to come between them. Something that would connect them more fluently, that would lock them in a bit more firmly.
