Agent research tool #5

Agent research tool #5

- [Instructor] A great place to research prospective literary agencies on your list is using a good old fashioned Google search. Google your agency's name and a few agents from their staff, especially if their submission guidelines require you to pick one agent to query directly. A lot of agents do online interviews about books, the publishing industry and even what kind of material they're looking for. Plus, many agents have public Twitter accounts that you can follow to gain some perspective about their preferences and personality. You also might find other authors' reviews of specific agents. If you find through your Googling that more than a few authors have been significantly unhappy with an agent or agency, consider that a red flag when moving forward. While Googling your dream agents, you may also find information about networking events and/or conferences that the agent or agency will be attending, which leads us to our sixth and final research tool. Let's get into it.
