- [Narrator] Have you ever stopped to read the acknowledgments section of the book you're reading? Well, if not, it's time to start, because the acknowledgments are another great resource when looking for agents to submit your manuscript to. Most books these days have acknowledgment sections, and most authors thank their agents in their acknowledgments. I know I do. The acknowledgments section is often found at the end of a novel, or sometimes, if it's short, at the very beginning. So take a trip to your local bookstore and browse through the shelves. Make note of the agents who represent books that are similar to yours. Start with books you particularly like or respect, that way you at least know you have similar taste to the agent that sold it. However, try to avoid books that are direct competitors to yours, or extremely similar.
