- So you've received a new piece of information, an updated contact sheet where you see a different title or spelling of someone's name. You realize you wrote something erroneously or just committed a silly mistake. What do you do? First, accept that errors happen and you need to correct them matter-of-factly. Making adjustments and corrections is normal and acceptable, but always try to publish and send your best work. So, how do you fix your mistakes? First, don't panic. Then, take a few minutes and assess your mess. If the error is in an email, prepare to resend it. Correct the error in the body of the previous email. In the body of the message above the previous, now amended passage, draw attention to the correction and use the word CORRECTION but be measured in your approach. Now, when should you send a correction? If it's a misspelling or a typo, make sure you're adding value to the message. Be brief.
