- Freshness is another quality that brings evocativeness to your writing. Avoid using tired, worn out phrases that lack vitality because they're so over-used. There are some such phrases that we're just so used to seeing that it can be tempting to throw them into our writing without even thinking. They're like ready made stock phrases that come easily to your mind like this, at the end of the day, in all likelihood, it has been repeatedly shown that, it is invariably the case that, needless to say, when all is said and done. Or cliches like these, that have become common in business writing, going forward, wow factor, touch base, innovative service, blue-sky thinking, market-leading product, interface with, operational, leverage, synergy, incentivise, low-hanging fruit. Or cliches like these found elsewhere, an ax to grind, sent shockwaves, as quick as a flash, thrown into chaos. Such phrases, because they aren't fresh, can make your writing a lot duller than if you just avoided them…
