- [Narrator] Okay, let's get back to the book itself. I told you that the first pass pages were probably the last time you would see your book as a stack of paper, and that's because the next thing you'll receive from your publisher is called a galley, also referred to as an Advance Reader's Edition, or an Advance Reader's Copy, ARC, or A-R-C for short. Actually, you'll probably receive a few of these. The ARC or galley is an actual bound copy of your book. It will look a lot like your finished book. It will have a pretty cover, a synopsis on the back, your name and title on the spine. It's a very cool thing to see. ARCs are used primarily to build a buzz around the release of your book. They're called Advance Reader Copies, because the publisher sends it out to all the people who will read it in advance of the release date and help promote it.
