Because the Genesis Framework contains all the core functionality, page templates, and site structure elements required for a WordPress site, things like the header, the menu, the sidebar, and the footer, the files needed for a child theme are pretty minimal. As a matter of fact, there are only two required files to make a child theme, functions.php and style.css. In this video, take a look at what these files contain.
