What are custom post types?

- [Instructor] One of the most important additions to WordPress that helped it evolve from a single blogging platform to a full-fledged content management system is the addition of different types of data. Before we dive into the code, it's important that you understand what custom post types are. Out of the box, WordPress has different post types already defined. The most common ones you interact with are posts and pages. Understanding how these work will help us later when we create our own custom post types. Posts are what you normally create on WordPress. These are most akin to blog articles. They are normally organized in reverse-chronological order, so that the last post goes first in the index and then you see the rest of the posts below. They are non-hierarchical, meaning posts do not have parent/child relationships.
