The first theme we'll take a look at is called Hatch, and it's available from the wordpress.org Free Themes Directory. That means we can even install that inside our WordPress site without downloading or uploading anything. If you go to your site, you can get to the Theme Installer either by going to your WordPress Toolbar and selecting Themes, or by going to the Dashboard and going to Appearance and Themes. From here you click the Install Themes tab, and then you make a Search for the theme you want.
It's called Hatch so that's what we will search for. And here you see Hatch shows up and we can install it. If you want to, you can click on Details to get more Details about the theme, and you can also Preview it, but I already know what I want this theme, so I am going to click Install Now. And WordPress now goes out to the Theme Directory, downloads the file, unpacks it, and installs the theme onto my Server. Now all I have to do is either activate it or run the live preview because I want to make sure that this is going to work properly.
I'm going to go Live Preview so that I see the theme in action without having activated it. You can see here that it works the way I want it to, and you can already see why I want to used this theme as a Portfolio theme. And because I like it, I am going to click Save and Activate. Now we can go to the front page of our site and already without any customization we now have a Portfolio theme. You can click on a post, you jump directly to the post, and you see this is a very attractive Theme with some very nice features.
