Demo project overview

- The possibilities for creating different websites with custom post types is endless. In this course, we're going to create a simple business directory website. We'll create a custom post type called Business that uses all of the built-in features of WordPress without having to rely on any outside plug-in help or custom metafields. Our businesses will have the standard content editor field as well as a featured image. We'll also create two taxonomies, size and locations. This will help us organize our businesses in a unique way. Our post types and taxonomies will be in a sample plug-in, which will be downloadable with the exercise files for this course. To integrate our post types and taxonomies into our theme, we'll also create a child theme based on Twenty Nineteen. We're choosing Twenty Nineteen because it has great support for the new block editor, and it's sure to use all of the best practices that come along with building a WordPress theme. We're going to create single and archive templates for our post types and taxonomies as well as make sure our new post types show up in search results and on the front page. If you follow along, by the end of this course, you'll have a site similar to what you see here on screen.
