Choosing a subdomain or folder structure
- [Voiceover] When planning to create a Multisite network, there is one technical decision that you need to make before you even begin installing your base WordPress install, and that is to determine if you want the URLs of your new site to be created as folders, or as subdomains. The choice between these two plans is largely made for you based on where you initially install the base site for your Multisite network. In WordPress in the Classroom, we looked at how URLs are formed as combination of domains, subdomains, and folders. New sites that are added to your Multisite network will default to a folder structure, such as example.com/courses/env100, and example.com/courses/env200. Provided, the Initial WordPress Install is placed inside of a folder. In this case, it's a folder called Courses, and it would be hosted on the domain, example.com.
