Learn how to use a proxy site to detect updates to plugins and themes and perform manual updates of plugins and themes in an offline WordPress intranet site.
- [Instructor] Keeping WordPress, your themes,…and your plug-ins up to date is really important,…not just because you get the latest features,…but also because you keep your site secure.…That applies even if your site is running…on a local intranet with no access to the internet.…The challenge of course is,…once your intranet server has no access to the internet,…it won't know when there are new versions of WordPress,…or the plug-ins or the themes available.…If you go to the backend of your sites,…and you go to say Plug-ins,…and look at the list of plug-ins.…All you'll know is the current version of the plug-ins,…and going to each plug-in page on the Web,…and then checking to make sure…your version numbers are correct,…is really tedious, and is a guarantee…for not keeping things up to date.…
Now in this example I have two problems.…One is that WordPress itself is not fully up to date,…you can see here I'm running version 4.7.…The current version is 4.7.2.…And I also know that this particular plug-in…is not the right version.…
