One of the major advantages of using WordPress to build websites and intranet sites is the ability to create custom post types and taxonomies. In this movie you'll learn how to create custom post types directly from WordPress admin using the free Custom Post Types UI plugin.
- [Instructor] Out of the box, WordPress…has two main types of content.…We have posts.…These are the blog posts or news items…or whatever else goes into the reverse chronological index.…Posts are organized based on categories and tags,…indexed based on the author and when they were published.…You also have pages.…These are static items that don't change,…and they're usually what's known as evergreen content,…so they won't change over time,…and they're always going to be the same.…You can usually think of the difference between posts…and pages as, pages typically go on the main menu,…whereas posts are available only from an index.…
Looking at the information architecture for our site,…we can see, there are some obvious types of content here…that will fall in either category.…We have our news items, so this would be the blog posts.…We have a studio calendar, this is a static page.…We have staff resources, which includes the staff directory…and HR and forms and such.…That's also static pages, just in…some sort of parent-child relationship.…
