This video demonstrates how to change the spell check language, which is useful if you need to add text to a document that is in a different language from your default language. This video also shows how to tell the computer not to check the spelling on a specific section of text.
- [Instructor] If you ever add some text to your document…that's in a different language from your default,…you may need to make some adjustments…to the Spell Check Tool.…I have a quote here from Enrico Fermi,…and I also wanted to include the original Italian text.…But Word is set up in English on my computer,…so it sees this as a bunch of spelling mistakes.…I see several red underlines.…To remove this distraction, my options are to…either install the Italian tools for the spell checker,…or just tell Word to disregard spelling mistakes…in this paragraph.…So first you need to select the bit of text…that you're working with,…then go to the Review ribbon, to this Language button.…
If you're working on a Mac, you can just click that button.…On Windows when you click it, it opens up this menu,…and you'll also need to click Set Proofing Language.…This gives you the opportunity to identify…which language you want for the specific text…that you currently have selected.…Now the first option I want to look at is really easy.…
