- [Instructor] Have you ever tried to open up a document here in Microsoft Word? Perhaps it's an older document you haven't used in a while and it simply won't open. It appears to be corrupted. Word has functionality built in to try and open and repair the document. That doesn't work, well your last resort might be to at least get the text out of that document so you have the majority of your content. You may need to add some images and do some formatting, but at least you won't have to retype the entire document. That's what we're going to explore in this week's Word tip. So you can have nothing open here in Word. We're going to go to a corrupted file. In your exercise files click File and with Open selected down the left-hand side we'll go into the Open pane here and click Browse. With Browse selected, now we can go to the exercise files and find an older word document, Press_release034. You can see the extension doc. Select that, but this is the file we can't open.
