This video shows how to apply a password lock to a document to prevent people from editing the document.
- [Instructor] Microsoft Word will let you…restrict a document so that nobody can make changes…unless they have the password.…This is one feature that is a bit different…between Mac and Windows.…We're going to start here on Windows.…I've got the document open I want to lock it down.…So I'll go to the Review ribbon,…then to Restrict Editing…and it opens up this panel on the right.…Now you can limit formatting options,…but what I think most people…will use here are editing restrictions.…If you turn this on, it's going to lock it…so that people are not able to make changes.…
Now there is a menu here…and you can choose some other configurations…but most people I think are going to choose No changes,…which means the document will be read only,…nobody will be able to make any edits…unless they have the password.…Now before we lock it down,…there is an option to set exceptions,…which means I can choose parts of this document…that will be able to be edited,…while keeping the rest of the document protected.…So let me scroll through here…
