By default, the first thing you see when you launch Word is the Start screen, also known as the Welcome screen. This video shows how to set Word to start with a new blank document every time you launch the application instead of the Start screen.

Here on the Start screen,…you'll find that on the sidebar on the left.…But if you're already in a document,…you can go to the backstage view.…Just click on File to go to backstage,…and you can get to the Options button from here.…Here in Options, we want to make sure…we're in the General category.…Scroll down a bit to Start up options,…and disable this option to show the Start screen…when this application starts.…
