Copy styles, macros, and building blocks to documents or templates

- [Instructor] We'll often use the same styles and macros in multiple documents. I'm going to show you how to create a simple macro and then how to copy that macro from a document into your Normal template. I'll then show you how you can copy the styles from a document into that Normal template. That way you'll be able to reuse the macros and the styles that you've created in all of your new documents. Notice that I have the 02_02 Copy_Styles_1 document open, and let's go ahead and create a simple macro. We're going to create a macro that's going to highlight any text that I have selected. I'll go ahead and select this paragraph. We'll go to our View tab, click on Macros, Record Macro. First we'll name our macro, let's call it Highlight. Next, we'll determine where we want to store the macro. We have the option of storing it in the Normal template or in the current document. I'll go ahead and save it in the current document.
