A topic is the basic unit of content in a Flare project – as self-contained as possible a discussion about a single subject. Learn more about what a topic is, how long a topic can and should be, the format of a topic file, and how you can create new topics from scratch or by importing Word, Framemaker, HTML, and other types of files.
- [Voiceover] In this video, you'll learn…what a topic is…and what your options are for creating new topics.…So first, what is a topic?…A topic is a largely self contained chunk of content…about one subject that tries to answer a question,…such as, what is this thing that we're talking about?…How do I do some task?…What are my options for some task?…How long can a topic be?…It's hard to say.…It depends really on the material and the circumstances.…
They can be as short as a few words…to my own personal record,…which I hope nobody will ever beat,…equivalent to 39 pages of 8.5 by 11 text.…However, topics usually seem to equal about…half of an 8.5 by 11 page.…So, here's a topic.…And if a topic gets too long…you could always break it up into shorter subtopics.…So here's how to number one,…here's how to number two,…here's how to number three.…
And you look at this and you decide…this is getting way too long,…or it's getting longer than I want.…What you can do is break this up into individual topics.…That's number one,…that's number two,…
