Lisa Bock reviews Real-Time Transport Protocol, or RTP, and demonstrates in Wireshark the many TCP-like fields in RTP such as sequence number, timestamp, and source identifier.
- [Instructor] Real-time Transport Protocol…is a transport protocol for media…with real time characteristics.…It's multicast friendly and has many encoding possibilities.…Many times, RTP is over UDP,…which is a lightweight transport protocol.…In order to ensure additional information…about the transmission, RTP has a number of different…TCP-like fields, such as sequence number,…timestamp, and source identifier.…
So here is an RTP header.…And we're going to go through…those field values in Wireshark.…Now I'm at this website which is CloudShark,…and I've opened up a packet capture here, you can see,…and I filtered it on RTP.…Now what we'll do is go to Export, Download File,…and what I did was bring it into Wireshark,…but you can watch it or take a look at it here.…So once you get into Wireshark…and then I filtered it by RTP,…Now we can just see the RTP traffic.…
All right, now what I wanted to do was…kind of take look, we'll go to Statistics and Flowgraph,…and limit it to Display Filter,…and bring in the flowgraph.…
