Navigating the Wireshark interface

- [Instructor] When you first launch Wireshark, you may think that there isn't much going on on the welcome screen. Well, while it's a streamlined interface, you'll find that there's everything you need to begin capturing packets and analyzing traffic. Up along the top, you'll find the menu choices, and you can also see the icons. If you don't have a capture file loaded, you'll see that the menu choices and icons are all there, but they're going to be dimmed. The icons will become active once you have a packet capture opened or are actively capturing packets. Now, let's take a look at a couple of things here. We see Capture and using this filter. And in this case, you could put a capture filter, but I generally don't. And then down below, you'll see some of your interfaces. And then you'll see maybe a squiggly line after that. That's called a sparkline, and that means I can begin capturing on that interface. Down below,…
