Lisa Bock demonstrates H.323 in Wireshark to examine the process, that begins with Q.931, and then H.225, which establishes communication between two hosts H.245, which establishes properties such as audio codecs and logical channels for the media transfer, and then the media transfer using RTP.
- [Instructor] H.323 acts as a wrapper…for media control and setup.…H.323 was one of the first VoIP protocols developed…and used by vendors.…However, it's less popular since the develop of SIP,…but it is still in use.…So I have a H.323 setup and exchange,…and I thought maybe you'd like to follow along.…So if you'd like to follow along, go to rtp_example.raw…and you can extract that, save it as a PCAP next generation.…
So what I did was I brought it into Wireshark…so we can just see an example of this wrapper…and some of the protocols within H.323.…Now, when you're in this, we're going to do…a couple things and preferences just to make sure…that we can reassemble the packets.…This probably is already done, but sometimes,…students will explain that they are unable…to get the capture to work or to replay the capture,…so let's just go into Edit and Preferences…and then we go into Protocols, and there's a lot…of protocols in here, but we're going to just…first look for TCP, and we see here…it already says to allow the subdissector…
