Lisa Bock covers how to modify choices in Wireshark such as folder, number of recent filter and folder, language, and icons, along with personalizing the layout, Status Bar, and general appearance.
- When working with a trace file…you can modify the appearance and layout.…Well, we'll go to Edit and then to Preferences.…And we start out with…"Remember main window size and placement".…Now with that, I keep it the way it is…and the reason is when I'm working within a trace file…sometimes I modify the feel of it and…where it is and how I place it.…So I wanna keep that so it goes back…and retains the way I worked with it previously.…
The next one is "Open files in".…And it gives you the choice.…I've left it in there as the default which is…"The most recently used folder".…And that's because if I'm working on a project…I'll go back to that folder again and again.…But you can change that.…For example, if you have a default place…that you want those captures to go into…you can change that by going to Browse…and selecting the appropriate folder.…Now here we can say "Show up to" how many…filter entries and how many recent files.…
Now show up to 10 filter entries;…that's when I'm in the display filter,…it remembers what I had built prior to that.…
