- Alright, let's take a look at the Windows 10 upgrade process in action and how we actually take Windows 8.1 desktop, which is what I currently have here, specifically a Windows 8.1 Pro. Now if you're not sure what version of Windows you have, you can always right-click on your start button and go into the System Control panel. It'll show you what version you have, as well as what operating system you have. 32-bit or 64-bit operating system loaded. It does matter, based on the upgrade, and you'll see that come in in some of the decisions that we'll make in just a few minutes. So I'm going to go ahead and close this down. Now remember I talked about there are a couple ways you get Windows 10 down to the system. You can do the update, you might have a reserve copy where there it will show up in the system tray.
