- [Instructor] So why do we care about voice and speech in our apps? Quite honestly, most developers have yet to grasp the huge opportunities available to integrate voice and speech in their app development cycle, the ability, for example, to provide services in your apps to say, "Read me the news," or "What's the weather?" or "Check in this business proposal," or "What's John Smith working on?" or even things like "Add a new file," "Change my theme," or "Read me my Twitter timeline" aren't just helpful features, but especially for hands-free and low or impaired vision scenarios are critical to create an open, fully-embracing app experience for your users.
The Universal Windows Platform really does provide the most comprehensive, customizable, and all-around most versatile voice and speech platform available today. In fact, in most respects, it really blows away other platforms, especially when we combine it with a digital assistant and natural language services out of Cortana.
