Join Scott Peterson for an in-depth discussion in this video Universal Windows Platform toasts, tiles, and push notifications, part of Developing UWP Apps: 7 Toasts, Tiles, and Push Notifications.
- [Instructor] The concepts of live, interactive, real time toast, tile, and push notifications have come a long way since they were first introduced in the Windows 8 and 8.1 timeframe. The Universal Windows Platform really does provide the most powerful realtime notification network available on any device on any platform. And we're not just talking about devices like tablets, desktops and phones. With the Universal Windows Platform, remember we're also talking about things like a surface hub, a gaming system, or even an IOT device. And we're also not just talking about foreground notifications, like a toast or a tile, but we're also talking about the power of background notifications through raw format-independent push notification systems to enable synchronization and communication among apps in the background.
Combined with services like Azure mobile apps and notification hubs, the potential for toast, tile, and push notifications is almost unlimited.
