Join Scott Peterson for an in-depth discussion in this video Universal Windows Platform cloud and connected services, part of Developing UWP Apps: 8 Cloud and Connected Services.
- [Instructor] Even the simplest of apps typically connect to data storage and third party services that won't and shouldn't reside on a local device, and remember when we're talking about data and services, we're no longer just talking about SQL Server, Oracle, or Sidebase data, or calling a simple Web service endpoint. In the world of connected services, we're talking about mail, calendaring, customer data, accounting data, images, videos, telemetry, and even notifications, all with their own mechanisms for integration and authentication. The Universal Windows Platform provides features and tooling to easily and securely connect to virtually any service or extended platform via a rich set of tools and standards-based interfaces.
This includes a wide variety of mobile services, Azure Storage, like blogs, tables, and queues, crash and telemetry analytics like Application Insights, or services like the new Visual Studio Mobile Center, Office 365, Sharepoint, and a wide variety of other third party services that can be accessed via the Visual Studio Connected Service Gallery.
