Performing calculations with the Calculator

There is a brand new calculator app here in Windows 8.1 along with the old accessory you might be accustomed to using it in previous versions of Windows. We are going to look at the new one now, and you might have a Tile right here on your Start screen for the calculator. If not, not to worry, just start to type calculator and the Search Pane opens up and you'll notice there are actually two options. The new Tile or new modern Tile is the new Windows 8.1 app, and down below you will see the old accessory, which we can still access.

But let's take a look at the new one. So it launches with three options across the top, a Standard calculator, Scientific and a Converter. Beginning with Standard, you can see we have the standard operations. Let's say we want to get the square root of 55. We click 55 twice, click the square root symbol and there's your answer. You can press Escape on your keyboard, which is the equivalent of clicking the Clear button. Most every time you hit Escape, the Cle...
